NPTS Commencement Awards Degrees, Ahnfeldt Medallion

CHICAGO, IL (May 26, 2009) – North Park Theological Seminary awarded E. Kirsten Kronberg the Ahnfeldt Medallion during commencement exercises Saturday.

The award is given to the student with the highest grade-point average. It is named in honor of Alfred Nelson Ahnfeldt, who was in the first class of the Covenant’s school started in 1891 in Minneapolis. The school later relocated to Chicago and became North Park. Ahnfeldt went on to become a professor of languages and homiletics.

Robert Kronberg, Kirsten’s father and a retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor, introduced her.

An honorary doctorate was presented to Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and president of the Lutheran World Federation. He is a graduate of Minnehaha Academy.

Forty-eight students received degrees or certificates at the commencement service. The number of recipients of each degree is listed below:

Master of Arts in Theological Studies – 1

Master of Arts in Theological Studies/Master of Management in Nonprofit Administration – 1

Master of Christian Formation – 3

Post Master of Divinity/Master of Christian Formation – 1

Master of Christian Ministry – 8

Master of Christian Ministry/Master of Management in Nonprofit Administration – 1

Certificate in Faith and Health – 2
