CHICAGO, IL (April 24, 2009) – More than 4,300 students have already registered for CHIC 2009: UNDONE with the number growing steadily as the next registration deadline of May 8 draws near.

The Covenant triennial youth event will be held in July on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Full student payment is due by May 8.

“High school students attending CHIC have many exciting opportunities available to them before, during and after the event,” notes Marti Burger, director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Department of Christian Formation of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

One of the highlights is the CHIC offering that this year will go to support Covenant mission projects in Thailand. To help build interest in the work there, CHIC will send  three students and two chaperones to Thailand in advance of the CHIC gathering to personally witness the work being done there. The students will then share their experiences during the CHIC event.

“Students from across the country have participated in the application process and it is now down to the final selection,” Burger says. The CHIC website is counting down the days, hours and minutes until the students arrive at CHIC.

The schedule of activities for students this year is immense – lots of choices, Burger notes. The accompanying video – an interview with Burger and Don Meyer, executive minister of Covenant Communications – shares some of what will be happening.

Bands, speakers and much more are revealed weekly on the CHIC website as part of the 100-day countdown to CHIC. The countdown hosts information about all things CHIC, from excursions to service project options, seminars, contests and much more. Click here to visit the CHIC website.

“The purpose of CHIC is to call a generation of students to invite Christ into their lives, to become like Christ and to serve him every single day,” Burger says. “Prayers and support of this ministry are greatly appreciated.”
