CHICAGO, IL (March 13, 2009) – Updates to the Stewardship Starter Kit were shipped to Covenant churches this week, says Emily Ross, strategic giving and stewardship coordinator.

The kit serves as a resource for churches and stewardship committees as they evaluate stewardship practices in their own congregations. Material was developed following conversations with local Covenant pastors and others.

The 2009 update includes nine stewardship stimulators, a stewardship calendar, “Pastors & Giving,” “God is the Fundraiser,” Capital Fundraising Services, the “Loving and Giving” brochure, and a stewardship webpage handout.

“We’ve provided you with some new resources to assist you in your stewardship endeavors,” states the updated stewardship website. “The Commission on Stewardship is striving to meet the stewardship needs of local pastors throughout the Covenant. We pray that the joy of giving will be continually discovered in your church and in all of our lives.”

The stewardship website area is updated regularly, Ross notes. “We are continually adding new resources as well as news articles and updates pertaining to stewardship,” Ross says. “We encourage churches to regularly revisit the stewardship web pages.”

A number of stewardship resources can be ordered through the online Covenant Bookstore, including the original starter kit, the starter kit DVD, and the 2009 starter kit update.

Other free stewardship resources will be found in the stewardship section of the Covenant website, including many items suitable for download and printing. Questions can be emailed to the stewardship coordinator, or individuals can call with questions to Covenant Resource Center at 800-338-4332.
