Conference to Focus on How We ‘Do’ Church

PLEASANT HILL, CA (February 27, 2009) – Hope Center Covenant Church and The Renewal Project are partnering to present the Doing Church 09 conference that will focus on the theme “The Shaping of Things to Come.” The conference will take place May 8-9.

Featured speakers will include:
•    Michael Frost, author of The Shaping of Things to Come, Exiles, and ReJesus: A Wild Messiah for a Missional Church.
•    Lawrence VanHook, who will moderate the event, organized Community Christian Church for Christ and is an adjunct professor of ethnic studies at several schools.
•    David Kitely, who for 35 years was the pastor of Shiloh Christian Fellowship, a multiethnic congregation in Oakland, California.
•    Ed Gibbs, author of Church Next and professor of church growth at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Recording artist Sara Groves will lead worship.

Cost for the event is $60 per person with smaller rates for groups that vary depending on size. For more information or to register, visit the conference website or call 925-947-1490.

Covenant pastor Doug Stevens is the executive director and founder of The Renewal Project, which is sponsoring the ninth annual event. Stevens was senior pastor of Hillside Covenant Church in Walnut Creek for 12 years.

The Renewal Project is a non-profit organization designed to help church leaders gain new perspective and passion for ministry. The organization provides services that include coaching, as well as retreats, workshops, and seminars.

Fuller Seminary is co-sponsoring the conference for the first time.
