CHICAGO, IL (January 28, 2009) – Candidates are being sought for the position as manager of the online Covenant Bookstore, operated by the Department of Communication on behalf of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

The successful candidate will be expected to start March 2. This position manages all aspects of the online bookstore, including infrastructure and content, inventory maintenance and related accounting functions, order fulfillment and distribution, customer service, and onsite store support for major Covenant events, including Annual Meeting and Midwinter.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications include excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet skills. This individual must have good interpersonal skills and be able to represent the organization well to customers, the public, and other external sources in person, in writing, or by telephone or email.

It is important that this individual demonstrate excellent skills in organizing details and tasks, is familiar with and comfortable working within a website environment, and demonstrates the ability to think critically and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction is highly desirable.

This position reports to the executive minister of Covenant Communications. The successful candidate must have a commitment to the mission and values of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the purposes of the Department of Communication.
