ALEXANDRIA, MN (January 6, 2009) – Churches from around the world have signed up to be part of the online missions campaign being organized by Tim Schmoyer, the youth pastor at Alexandria Covenant Church.

So far, 39 churches representing 1,000 students from the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and Bermuda, have filled out the optional registration form on the trip’s website, Schmoyer says. More registrations are being submitted daily, and Schmoyer expects the trend to continue because the website for Dare 2 Share sent a special email to roughly 20,000 youth pastors.

So far, at least 620 people are members of the Online Missions Trip Facebook group, Schmoyer says.

The trip is scheduled February 1-14. During the trip, participants will upload videos and photos, post links, and use status updates to share what God is doing in their lives,” Schmoyer says. Participants also will write notes, send messages, post on blogs, create invitations to the youth group, and anything else that will bring God up in a conversation that starts online.

Schmoyer hopes the online conversations will lead to face-to-face discussions.

Pre-trip training is slated for January 11-31 using materials already available online. Outreach events and new-believer follow-up will start February 15. The follow-up will include a free four-part series from Lifechurch.tv entitled “What’s Next.”
