CHICAGO, IL (December 30, 2008) – An interruption of telephone service to Evangelical Covenant Church offices continued today (Tuesday) as AT&T technicians work to correct the problem that has also disrupted service to at least two other major customers in the North Chicago area.

Service was interrupted late Monday morning due to a failure of one of AT&T’s servers that service Covenant offices and the other businesses. The loss of service is not believed to be connected to other storm-related problems that plagued both AT&T landline and wireless systems over the weekend.

Technicians thought they had the problem corrected early Monday evening, but the system again failed when they attempted to reboot the AT&T server software. There is no estimate of how long it may take to complete the appropriate repairs. The outage has affected not only offices at the 5101 North Francisco location, but other ministry offices at the 3311 West Foster Avenue location as well.

All Covenant offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the New Year holiday.
