Memorial Service Wednesday for Phillip E. Danielson

TURLOCK, CA (December 15, 2008) – A memorial service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Phillip E. Danielson, 89, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hilmar Covenant Church. He died Saturday.

Danielson was born December 1, 1919, in Providence, Rhode Island. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Following his service, he graduated from North Park College and North Park Theological Seminary. Danielson was ordained in 1953.

He married Dorothy Johnson on February 12, 1944. She survives.

Danielson served Irving Park Covenant Church in Chicago, Illinois; Buffalo Covenant Church in Buffalo, New York; Kingsburg Covenant Church in Kingsburg, California; First Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska; and Community Covenant Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. He also served five years as chaplain at Covenant Village of Turlock.

He was active in denominational leadership, serving on the Board of Home Mission, Board of the Ministry, Board of Benevolence, and the Covenant Executive Board.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter Lois Satterberg of Edina, Minnesota; and son David Danielson of Rochester, Minnesota.
