NEW YORK, NY (November 25, 2008) – Miss America Kirsten Haglund, a member of Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan, served as honorary host of New York City Rescue Mission’s Great Thanksgiving Banquet on Monday.
Haglund was one of a number of national celebrities and local officials to participate in the event. In addition to serving meals, Haglund also sang in an impromptu performance with a praise band. Jeff VarnHagen, another Faith Covenant member, first promoted the idea for her to appear at the mission. His father, James VarnHagen, is the organization’s executive director.
