ST. CLOUD, MN (November 18, 2008) – Bill Dornbush, pastor of Hope Covenant Church, is one of nearly 50 leaders in the faith community who have signed a letter to coaches and activity directors because of the increasing number of school athletic activities that are scheduled on Wednesday nights.

In the past, most school athletic events were held on nights other than Wednesday so that students would not have to choose between those activities and church, especially youth group activities.

Dornbush told the St. Cloud Times, however, that the 200 members of his church are forced to make that choice. “To me, what we are noticing, there is a lot more competition today than there has been before regarding competing entities.”

Another church leader in the community said, “It’s a significant thing in that it speaks to a thing that has always been a high priority around here.”
