MUSKEGON, MI (November 4, 2008) – A member of Forest Park Covenant Church is organizing a trip to bring free dental care to the Youth Haven Bible Camp in Beattyville, Kentucky.

The trip will take place from March 21 to March 28, 2009. Kentucky Mountain Mission operates the camp. The clinic, which will operate three days, is held in the camp’s gymnasium.

For many of the people in the area, the week may be the only time they receive dental care during the year, Gordon says.

“We desperately need dentists, dental hygienists, and assistants,” says Gordon. During one trip, a single dentist pulled 1,100 teeth.

Dental chairs are onsite, but participants are asked to bring their own equipment. Cost per person for food and lodging is $50 for Saturday through Wednesday, and $100 for Saturday through Saturday.

Gordon says the group will work with people who want to go, but may be deterred by financial issues. Childcare can be made available.

Bayside Pastor Quoted in ‘What I’ve Learned’ Article

ROSEVILLE, CA – Ray Johnston, senior pastor of Bayside Covenant Church in Roseville, is one of the national church leaders quoted in Outreach magazine in an article entitled, “What I’ve Learned so Far.” Author Lindy Lowry sought comments from pastors of the 100 fasting growing churches in America.

“Authentic worship and authentic Bible teaching are unbelievably attractive to people, and you can grow and reach people at the same time without watering anything down,” Johnston says. “The average church stops caring about outsiders after nine years and never recovers from it.”

Beliefnet.com Now Offering Popular McKnight Blog

CHICAGO, IL – The award-winning website Beliefnet has begun hosting Jesus Creed, the popular blog written by North Park University professor Scot McKnight.

“Over the three and a half years of hosting this blog, I think we have established a way to communicate in a civil manner that is simply not found in many places in the Christian Internet,” McKnight wrote in a post last month explaining the decision to relocate the blog hosting site. “We’d like to expand the community and we’d like to extend the kind of community we have here at Jesus Creed to the Beliefnet.com community.

“Furthermore, very few blogs have the mix of folks that we have – and we think moving to Beliefnet.com will not only expand the community, but will give you – the Jesus Creed community – the opportunity to extend what we have done here to others,” he adds.

McKnight says the blog receives on average between 100 and 200 emails a day.
