EAGLE RIVER, AK (July 30, 2008) – Covenant Merge Ministries and the Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (ECCAK) are collaborating to increase opportunities for mission teams to work in the state, especially in the bush areas.

MergeRodney Sawyer, ECCAK regional director, said many Covenanters are interested in traveling to Alaska to partner with local churches. ECCAK administrative staff and local pastors are unable to help schedule and facilitate the trips, however.

As a result of the partnership, Merge is creating a new area director position to coordinate trips to the state. Merge is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church’s Department of World Mission and connects teams with projects while offering assistance in preparing for the trips.

Applications are being accepted for the new director position. To obtain a job description, click here or contact the ECCAK office. Applicants must apply as short-term missionaries with the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Editor’s note: the accompanying photo shows Dale Lusk, executive director of Merge, getting hit from behind by a snowball during a visit to Alaska that sparked the idea for a mission partnership with ECCAK.
