This position, which reports to the executive minister of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism, takes the lead in advocating, strategizing, and implementing initiatives related to evangelism on behalf of the denomination and its members. The new director will expect to assume responsibilities in mid to late September.
Responsibilities include advocating for the priority of evangelism through speaking, writing, and teaching opportunities; developing and managing materials to equip churches and individuals in the area of evangelism; developing a model for coaching congregations; developing a volunteer team of associates, including congregational coaches for evangelism; and serving as a resource for North Park Theological Seminary.
The successful candidate must reflect a commitment to the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the purposes of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism. The individual must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner. The individual must have the ability to work with limited direction, take initiative, and have the ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision, organizing own schedule and duties in order to complete responsibilities. The position demands accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Competence in supervision and the ability to motivate, direct and encourage is necessary, as are skills in assessing problems and planning and evaluating solutions. Extensive travel, up to eight nights per month, is expected.
