Funeral Services Conducted for Louis F. Jensen

DUBUQUE, IA (June 30, 2008) – Funeral services were conducted this morning for retired Evangelical Covenant Church missionary and pastor Louis F. Jensen, 87, who died June 24.

He was born on January 23, 1921, in Mason City, Iowa. He married Iris Davis on July 18, 1945, in Des Moines.

He began his post high school education at Moody Bible Institute in 1941. During his final semester at Moody, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served until November 14, 1945.

He continued his education, graduating from Augsburg College in Minneapolis and then from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago in 1949. He was ordained in 1953.

Jensen was pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stambaugh, Michigan, before the couple served as missionaries in Japan from 1953-1969. He subsequently was pastor at Grace Covenant Church in Chicago, Illinois; Elim Covenant Church in Moline, Illinois; and the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wausa, Nebraska.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons: Paul Jensen and Philip Jensen, both of Dubuque; and three daughters: Patricia Fogle of Hemet, California; Ruth Zschoche of Canton, Missouri, and Rebecca Sample, of Hampton, Illinois.
