Surridge Resigns as Coach – Continues as Athletic Director

CHICAGO, IL (June 16, 2008) – Jack Surridge has resigned as the women’s basketball coach at North Park University, but will continue as athletic director, school officials said.

SurridgeSurridge has coached several sports at the collegiate level for 40 years, and has coached the women’s team since he arrived at North Park in 1996. He has guided the team to eight tournament titles.

Over his career, Surridge has coached basketball, football, and softball teams, with winning records in each sport. He garnered an overall record of 571-398, including 13 conference championships, 23 tournament titles and one national championship.

Surridge educated students in the classroom, too, having been a professor of biology at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Concordia University in Wisconsin.

“It has been a great ministry and I have been blessed by the students I have worked with over the years,” Surridge says. “We love watching their lives unfold on a daily basis. I look forward to focusing my energy on my family and my duties as the athletic director at North Park University.”

His replacement will be named following completion of a national search process.
