‘Night of Training’ Offered at Oakdale on Thursday

CHICAGO, IL (June 9, 2008) – Pastor Harvey Carey will be the featured speaker at “A Night of Training for Southside Youth Ministries” to be held at Oakdale Covenant Church from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Carey, a nationally known speaker, is pastor of Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, Michigan. The church is working to help renew one of the most crime-ridden areas in that city.

Several seminars will be offered:
•    “Rebuilding a Fatherless Generation,” taught by Danny Lopez of Grip Ministries
•    “Urban Youth Ministry Discipleship,” led by Brian Dye of Vision Nehemiah
•    “Mooks, Midriffs and MySpace: Engaging a Plugged-in Generation,” taught by Ginger McDonald of Tasty Faith
•    “Getting Students’ Attention” when they don’t care, taught by Phil Jackson, pastor of the House Covenant Church in Chicago

The Center for Youth Ministry Studies (CYMS) is sponsoring the event. A light dinner will be served. Cost is $10.
