COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (May 28, 2008) – A long-distance trip to Living Hope Covenant Church could be worth the effort for brides-to-be who still are looking for a wedding dress.

On Saturday, the church will sell wedding dresses and formal gowns valued from $1,200 to $1,500 for the price of admission to the sale. The cost? Only $30 if paid by Friday, but a whopping $40 at the door. The sale will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The church is selling the 63 new bridal dresses and 25 formal gowns to fund construction of an outdoor wedding chapel while also blessing people in the community, says church member Suzanne Ralston.

Someone who owned a clothing store recently donated the gowns anonymously. “I was speechless,” says Ralston, who heads a committee to build the outdoor chapel.

The church sits on a heavily wooded 7.5-acre property that was donated to the church in 2001. The wedding site will be placed in a small clearing where a swimming pool once existed. The worship area will include a platform, benches and a setting suitable for photographs, Ralston says.

Ralston says she doesn’t expect the chaos typical of the annual wedding dress sale at Filene’s Basement. The number of tickets is being limited to 100, she explains, and each person will be limited to purchasing one item.

The sale already has thrilled one future shopper. The woman told Ralston that she is to be married in several months, but could not afford a dress.

For more information, call the church at 719-531-5101 or visit the church website.
