SAN DIEGO, CA (May 8, 2008) –Del Pacto Covenant Church on Sunday launched the city’s first satellite campus of CHET, an Evangelical Covenant Church training center for Hispanic ministers.

The church plant, which is pastored by Jesus Perez, meets in the Clairemont Covenant Church facility.

CHET“We’ve been nothing but blessed in partnering with the Del Pacto Covenant Church,” says Clairemont pastor Greg West. “This partnership with the Del Pacto Covenant Church and with CHET allows us more opportunities to reach people on either side of the border for Christ.”

West cut the ribbon during a special ceremony following a sermon by CHET President Ed Delgado. Del Pacto’s vision to “Win, Disciple and Send” fits well with the school’s goal to recruit and equip Hispanic Christian leaders, Delgado says.

“Hispanic churches in our denomination and others are discovering the depths of our courses,” Delgado adds. “The Lord is really opening doors in all kinds of areas where there is incredible need.”

The main campus of CHET is located in Bell Gardens, California, and operates several extension sites in the United States as well as Mexico and Spain. It works in partnership with North Park University.

CHET has grown from 15 students in 1989 to more than 400 today. The school graduated 154 students in 2007. In a typical quarter, CHET serves students from 15-20 denominations and Latin American nations, says Delegado. A roughly equal number of male and female students attend the school.
