IRON RIVER, MI (April 29, 2008) – Delegates to the 122nd Annual Meeting of the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church learned that conference offices are moving to a new location that offers improved efficiency at a lower cost.

Offices currently are located in a building on Foster Avenue owned by North Park University, which wants to use the space, says Supt. Jerome Nelson. The new location is two miles away in a former factory structure that is being converted to office space.

Nelson and administrative staff will continue to operate out of the new office location. Other staff members will work from their homes as they rarely need to be together other than weekly meetings.

“They’re not supposed to be in the office – they’re supposed to be out in the churches,” Nelson says. Small workstations will be set up in the new office for staff use as needed, however.

The office will relocate July 1. The new address will be 4055 W. Peterson, Chicago, IL, 60646. Nelson says he does not yet know if the telephone number will remain the same.

In other business:
•    Kim Johnson, a member of Northwest Covenant Church in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, received the Compassion, Mercy & Justice Award.
•    Delegates approved a revised 2008 budget of $974,693 and a 2009 budget of $992,027.
•    Elected to the executive board are Russ Knight of Calvary Covenant Church in Chicago and Steven Pederson of Zion Covenant Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The conference annual meeting was held at Grace Covenant Church in Iron River with 110 people in attendance, including 81 delegates representing 45 of the conference’s 108 churches.

The meeting next year will be held April 24-25 at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp.
