SACRAMENTO, CA (March 26, 2008) – Getting the family together for a group portrait can be difficult given competing schedules, cost, and other complications. First Covenant Church came up with a solution to this dilemma over the Easter weekend.

Several volunteers took more than 500 family portraits for free as the worshipers arrived for the church’s most well attended services of the year. The pictures will be posted on a large board for everyone to see this weekend. Families will be able to take their own portraits with them.

The photos were taken in the church lobby against a backdrop of scenery and props from a previous stage production performed at the church. One of the photographers, John Wallauch, said he had fun shooting the portraits. He laughed as he added that in working with children, “You’ve got to be on your toes.”

Wallauch says he isn’t sure how many of the subjects were visitors or regular attendees. The church hopes that the free service will entice first-time, as well as returning, visitors.
