Minnehaha Team Headed for Championship Play

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (March 12, 2008) – The Minnehaha Academy girl’s basketball team opens state AAA championship play tonight at the Williams Arena and Target Center in Minneapolis.

The Redhawks (26-3) will take on Fergus Falls (23-5). The Associated Press ranked Minnehaha No. 3 in its final poll of the season and slotted Fergus Falls at No. 6.

After being absent from the tournament for two years, the Redhawks are appearing in the state tournament for the third time. Fergus Falls is making its first run at the state title.

Senior Megan Erlandson leads the Redhawks with 15.3 points per game. She is followed by junior Sarah Peterson (14.4) and sophomore Rachel Hansen (14.2).

The academy is affiliated with the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church and educates students in preschool through high school.
