CHICAGO, IL (March 7, 2008) – Karen Hearl from Lincoln, California, has been appointed by the Board of Women Ministries to direct the Women Ministries Ministry Coach initiative begun in 2006.

The position provides leadership and oversight of the Ministry Coach network, which currently includes 38 trained coaches, as well as providing training for new ministry coaches.

Ministry coaches are trained to support leaders of women’s ministries in local churches, helping them in efforts to restore and/or maintain vibrant ministries that are integrated into the church’s vision. A key resource is training on how to design and evaluate effective ministries.

Hearl is pursuing a Masters in Christian Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary and will focus her internship on the Covenant’s Ministry Coaching project. A trained ministry coach, Hearl brings years of service to Women Ministries and has served at all levels of its leadership, including board chair. She is a well-known seminar and retreat speaker and chaired the seminar committee for Triennial XII in 2007.

“Karen brings both a depth of experience and a genuine passion to this calling,” says Ruth Hill, Women Ministries executive minister. “I look forward to seeing how the Lord will strengthen this vital ministry to local churches through her.”

Churches desiring to contact a ministry coach can visit the Ministry Coach section of the Evangelical Covenant Church website to locate the nearest coach.
