GRAND RAPIDS, MI (February 29, 2008) – Thornapple Covenant Church will be one of only four churches in the United States to host the two-day John Stott Global Church Tour, which features Mossai Sanguma, president of the Covenant Church in Congo (CEUM).

The Thornapple event will take place April 18 and 19. The theme of the event is “Working Together for the Cause of Christ: Building God’s Global Church.”

Sanguma will be joined by Parush Parushev of the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and Cynthia Chang of the Singapore Bible College in Singapore.

Attendees will learn about the challenges, opportunities and miracles related to the expanding of God’s kingdom in the majority world, which is generally defined as Africa, Asia, and Latin American. Most of the world’s population – and 75 percent of all Christians – live on these continents.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. April 18 with a worship service that has an international theme. The service is open to all and does not require pre-registration. Anyone needing childcare should call the church at 616-957-0580 so arrangements can be made for the necessary nursery workers.

Participants must register for the April 19 session, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The morning will include information sessions with the international leaders. A panel discussion will follow lunch.

Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Included in the cost are lunch and a one-year subscription to Christianity Today, which is co-sponsoring the event.

Registration should be completed online through John Stott Ministries or by calling 1-866-815-0871.
