CHICAGO, IL (February 7, 2008) – Evangelical Covenant churches in Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee have reported no damage from the slew of tornadoes that ripped through the region, according to conference officials.

“We didn’t have any churches in the corridor where the tornadoes went through,” said Robert Owens, superintendent of the Southeast Conference.

More than 50 people were killed and more than 100 injured when an estimated 30 to 50 tornadoes devastated communities in five southern states Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Covenanters have been asked to pray for all those who are suffering loss in the aftermath of the storm, especially those in Macon and Sumner counties in Tennessee and on the campus of Union University in Jackson.
