ALBUQUERQUE, NM (February 4, 2008) – A graveside memorial service for retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Everett Swedenburg, 93, will be conducted July 19 at the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Salina, Kansas. He died a week ago Sunday.
Swedenburg was born September 5, 1914, in Salina, and grew up there as well as in nearby Smolan, Kansas. He graduated from North Park College and then North Park Theological Seminary. He completed additional religious studies at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.

Swedenburg served Covenant churches in Haddam Neck, Middletown, and Stamford, Connecticut; Haxtun, Colorado; and Ceresco, Nebraska. He also worked with the former Covenant Press and later served several United Methodist congregations.
Swedenburg is survived by his wife, Eldora, who he married in 1944; sons Paul Swedenburg of Germantown, New York, and Jon Swedenburg of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter Eunice Letzing of Seattle, Washington; and four grandchildren.
