Sudanese Congregation Baptizes 21 Individuals

OMAHA, NE (January 18, 2008) – The First Sudanese Covenant Church baptized 21 people ranging in age from one to 17 on Sunday.

BaptismBecause the congregation’s pastor John Pidak currently is in Sudan, First Covenant Church pastor Wes Gibson and Midwest Conference Superintendent Ken Carlson officiated the baptisms in his place. Johnson Thach, who has been leading the Sudanese congregation in Pidak’s absence, also participated in the service.

The Sudanese congregation usually meets in First Covenant’s chapel while the host church holds its traditional service in the sanctuary. The baptisms were part of a joint service on Sunday. The accompanying photo shows Carlson baptizing a child with Thatch standing next to the mother.
