The candidates were selected during a two-day meeting of the Presidential Nominating Committee earlier this month. Plans call for a formal nominee to be announced no later than March 1.
The nominating committee met for its organizational meeting October 19 and selected Brian Madvig as its chair. The group outlined the search process and invited Covenanters to recommend names of individuals for consideration by the committee. The group requested additional input, including qualities that are desired in the next president of the Covenant, and developed criteria to be used in evaluating potential candidates.
During its meeting December 14 and 15, Madvig says members evaluated the current state of the Covenant and its needs, as well as desired leadership qualities and mission priorities in a new president. Members also reviewed and evaluated the names that had been submitted or developed by committee members and selected a number of individuals to be scheduled for interviews in January.
“I speak on behalf of all those involved when I say it is an honor to serve on this committee,” Madvig says. “We are grateful for the prayers and the support we have received – this is an integral part of the assessment process.
“I ask for your continued prayers for members of the committee as well as the individuals who will be interviewed.”
