OMAHA, NE (December 7, 2007) – A special community prayer service was scheduled for this evening (Friday) at First Covenant Church, intended to help the Omaha community grieve together the tragic loss of life during the Westroads Mall shooting earlier in the week.

The special service is a cooperative effort of four Evangelical Covenant churches in the Omaha area, including Celebration, Community, Faith, and First Covenant churches. First Covenant, where the service will be held, is located at 201 N. 90th Street (just south of Dodge Street on 90th).

“We will offer prayers for the individuals and families affected by the tragedy,” says First Covenant pastor Wes Gibson. “We also want to offer thanks and prayers for our community leaders, law enforcement officers, and fire and rescue personnel who have responded with their best in a difficult circumstance.

“All ministerial and community leaders, churches, families and the public are invited to join us as we seek God’s healing grace for our community.”
