CHICAGO, IL (December 4, 2007) – For the third time in four years, the North Park University men’s soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic Award for the 2006-2007 school year.

A total of 406 schools were honored and only 111 men’s programs in the nation earned the award. North Park was the only CCIW school on the men’s side to receive the honor.

“Over the past few years our team has earned their fair share of accolades, however the NSCAA Academic Award is clearly my favorite,” said North Park Head Coach John Born. “The 2006-2007 team really understood what it took to be successful, not only on the field but also in the classroom. I hope and trust our first-year players on the current team will follow the great example set before them.”

In order to qualify for the award, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above. The Vikings earned a 3.14 GPA from the fall semester of 2006 to the spring semester of 2007.
