CHICAGO, IL (August 9, 2007) – The recovery process has been a slow one for Marti Burger, a staff member in the Department of Christian Formation, who was hospitalized 10 days ago suffering acute pain.
Burger, who serves as director of youth and family ministries, was eventually diagnosed with pancreatitis, an especially painful condition, according to husband, Steve, who serves as director of children and family ministries in the department.

Prayers on her behalf have been requested by family members that the pancreas will heal, that swelling can be relieved and pain appropriately managed.
The family requests no visitors at this time – just prayer, Burger says. She is expected to remain in the hospital for some time, though her condition is listed as improving.
