Arrests Made in Burglary of Iowa Covenant Church

LARCHWOOD, IA (July 11, 2007) – Three Sioux Falls, South Dakota, men have been arrested in connection with eight burglaries, including the rural Grandview Covenant Church in Larchwood.

ChurchThe burglaries occurred between March and May. The Grandview church was burglarized in March, as was Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Several businesses and a residence also were burglarized during the time period.

In another church-related burglary investigation, law-enforcement officials continue to search for thieves who stole a charcoal drawing of Warner Sallman’s “Head of Christ” from First Covenant Church in Omaha, Nebraska. http://www.covchurch.org/cov/news/item5514

That incident may be connected to five other art thefts from Omaha churches and has drawn national and international attention. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York Police Department, and the international law enforcement agency Interpol are working together on the investigation, according to a local newspaper.
