CHICAGO, IL (July 10, 2007) – Prayer walkers will be putting in a lot of extra miles to reach their goal of walking a distance equivalent to a trip around the globe by the time Triennial XII starts in early August.

The 160 walkers signed up so far will be walking the equivalent of three miles a day to reach the goal of 24,000 miles. Another 900 miles will be covered when many of the women at the event participate in a Fun Run.

People still can register to be walkers to help achieve the goal. Cost of registration is $10, and walkers will receive a kit that includes a tee-shirt, visor and lanyard with plastic pouch for the prayer requests and access to a website where they can log their miles. Walkers will then see the total number of prayer walkers registered, the cumulative miles walked, and the miles remaining toward reaching the goal.

Designed to promote both physical and spiritual fitness, the project provides walkers with Triennial XII prayer requests updated weekly that can be downloaded from the Triennial XII website.

Triennial XII, sponsored by Women Ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church, will be held August 9-12 in Chicago. The event will attract more than 1,000 women from around the world.
