ESTES PARK, CO (June 28, 2007) – Construction on a new chapel at Covenant Heights Camp and Retreat Center is slated to begin mid-August.
The Oscar and Esther Erickson Memorial Chapel will seat 200 people, says Nicole Cousineau, marketing director. The front of the chapel will have large windows that provide a view of Longs Peak. The 60-year-old current chapel is outdated and too small, Cousineau says.

Oscar Erickson was the camp’s first manager, serving from 1949-1959. Esther worked as his assistant and was the camp cook. “They really laid a strong foundation for the camp,” Cousineau says.
Construction is expected to cost $160,000 and be completed by the end of December. All but $20,000 of the money has been raised, Cousineau says.
