Ruth Hill, executive minister of Women Ministries, was re-elected to her third term as well. She was first elected in 1999. Since her first election, Women Ministries has developed many projects, such as Advocacy for Victims of Abuse (AVA) and Educate the Girls in Congo, where she and husband, Brad, were missionaries for 19 years.
Curt Peterson, executive minister of the Department of World Mission, was elected to his second term. He was first elected in 2003. In March, he was caught up in crossfire between militia and government forces in Kinshasa, Congo, and nearly killed. The experience, he has said, made him even more determined to expand the department’s work.
