PORTLAND, OR (June 22, 2007) – David Johnson, the retiring president of National Covenant Properties, was lauded by his colleagues during this afternoon’s business session of the 122nd Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

JohnsonDelegates gave him a lengthy standing ovation. “I hope the staff is watching back at the office on the Internet,” Johnson joked.

President Glenn Palmberg presented Johnson with a plaque in honor of his service. Many people have come to know Christ because of Johnson’s work, he said, adding, “Go with a great satisfaction and a great sense of fulfillment to the next stage of your life.”

Under Johnson’s guidance since 1975, NCP has grown dramatically, funding much of the church construction in the denomination. See” Johnson Reflection” for more detail.

Johnson’s successor, Stephen Dawson, noted the growth, which has seen assets grow from $8 million to more than $260 million. “I have no intention of reversing those trends,” he said.
