Biwabik (MN) Celebrating 50 Years of Ministry

BIWABIK, MN (June 20, 2007) – Biwabik Covenant Church will celebrate the 50-year anniversary of its charter Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1, with a barbecue, concert and special worship service.

The barbecue and reunion concert will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The concert will feature the return of the Harmony Four, and also will include the groups In Hymn and the Carlson/Keller Family.

Jim Fretheim, superintendent of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, will preach during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service. A buffet will follow at 12:30 p.m.

Keith Gustafson, son of the congregation’s first pastor, Raymond Gustafson, will be the main speaker for the 2 p.m. anniversary service. Keith is Congo coordinator for the Department of World Mission. Other special guests include the church’s first parish worker, Alice Kramer Danielson, as well as representatives from former pastors’ families and the community

The events are free and open to the public, but reservations are requested by Monday. These can be made by sending name, address, telephone number and the number of persons to the church at P.O. Box 609, Biwabik MN, 55708. Reservations also can be made by calling the church staff at 218-865-6416 or pastor Jeffrey Jones at 218-865-6216. A free-will offering will be taken.
