University Seeks Administrative Assistant to President

CHICAGO, IL (June 4, 2007) – Applications are being accepted for the position as administrative assistant to the president of North Park University.

Responsibilities include managing daily operations in the president’s office, scheduling appointments and arranging meetings with faculty and staff, students, donors, Board of Trustees members, and off-campus individuals and groups. This position arranges travel schedules, handles mail and telephone calls, prepares manuscripts, reports, and correspondence as required by the president, and manages the office filing system.

Other responsibilities include planning special events, such as various student, faculty and parent receptions and gatherings, and arranging meetings chaired by the president. This position oversees the office budget for the President’s Office and coordinates work with the Development Office related to fund-raising and appropriate follow-up reports. This individual also serves as professional staff to the Board of Trustees and provides secondary administrative support to the senior vice president (university advancement).

Qualifications include an understanding of and personal commitment to the North Park University mission and identity, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communications skills. The successful candidate also will demonstrate strong computer information system skills, including high-level competence in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint) and the ability to learn other systems as necessary. This individual must be able to work independently and exercise sound judgment, reflect a positive demeanor and an ability to relate to a broad range of individuals inside and outside the university, and maintain a respect for confidentiality and sensitivity in handling all matters. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is desirable, as is a minimum of five years of related work experience.
