CHICAGO, IL (April 27, 2007) – Five full-tuition scholarships to attend North Park Theological Seminary will be available beginning in the fall as part of an endowment from the Kern Family Foundation, it was announced today.

North Park is the eighth seminary to receive an endowment from the foundation, which provides seminary scholarships to evangelical men and women committed to lifelong service in pastoral ministry. The foundation’s mission is to develop exceptional pastors who lead healthy churches.

Each scholarship covers full tuition for the three-year academic program.  Award criteria include men and women who are 27 years of age or younger, U.S. citizenship, a minimum undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.25, enrollment in the Master of Divinity program, and the intent to pastor a local church upon completion. Candidates do not need to be members of the Evangelical Covenant Church to apply for this award.

The Kern Family Foundation of Waukesha, Wisconsin, was founded in 1998 with the goal of improving the core moral and spiritual values in our society. The foundation believes one way to accomplish this goal is strengthening local churches, recognizing that a key to any church’s strength is the ability and devotion of its pastor.
