CHICAGO, IL (March 24, 2007) – Covenanters have followed with interest the plight of Dr. Roger Thorpe and Curt Peterson, both caught in the midst of military upheaval in Kinshasa, Congo, the past few days.

Although both are now reported as safe, the words of encouragement continue to come in response to the Covenant News Service online stories detailing the action.

Following are a small sample of those comments. To read Friday’s story, search for the headline.

Covenanters Reported Safe Amid Congo Violence

Ralph Sturdy of Lincoln, NE, writes: Curt and Roger are both friends of many years. Joyce and I are praying with and for them and the brothers and sisters of the Congo. I can’t help but remember being in seminary chapel with Wes Swanson as we prayed for the safe release of our medical missionary Dr. Paul Carlson. These days bring back that memory. This time we pray that the outcome will be different. God bless and peace to Curt and Roger’s families.

Bill Medlyn of Goleta, CA, writes: We hold you, Curt and Roger, in our prayers as well as Marti and Roger’s wife, Eileen. May our Lord protect and comfort you both in this trial.

Jim Halvorsen of Santa Barbara, CA, write: Our thoughts and prayers and those of Montecito Covenant Church are with you. We pray for your quick and safe return.
