PEORIA, IL (March 23, 2007) – First Covenant Church celebrated its 125th anniversary this past weekend with members of all ages reflecting on the important role the congregation has played in helping their faith to grow.

Testimonies from six people, ranging in age from a junior high school student to senior adults, were among the highlights during a dinner held Saturday night. The dinner drew 120 people.

Evangelical Covenant Church Executive Vice President Donn Engebretson was the speaker for the dinner – First Covenant was the first church he pastored. President Glenn Palmberg and Central Conference Associate Supt. Jolene Bergstrom Carlson also attended.

Earlier in the day, the youth group gave tours of the church. Part of the multiple exhibits included a Swedish Bible that church members had found in the basement only weeks before.

John Weborg delivered the Sunday morning sermon. A reception followed.
