SAMMAMISH, WA (March 14, 2007) – Pine Lake Covenant Church sold nearly 500 copies of its new book, Miracles In Our Midst – True Stories of Divine Intervention at a recent launch event and author signing to raise funding for global AIDS relief through World Vision.

The book is a compilation of 45 first-hand accounts of miracles submitted by parishioners of the church. Thirty-two of the contributing authors signed copies at the launch, making it the largest author book signing in the history of Sammamish, says Susan Schlepp, the project’s editor.

“It was wonderful to see this year-long endeavor come together for the church, the contributing authors, and the community at large,” Schlepp says of the event that was held March 4.  “The attendees experienced how uplifting it can be when we step out in faith to share the God things in our life.”

“God is calling us to action, and Pine Lake Covenant Church has been asking him to show us how Sammamish and the surrounding communities can make an impact on the AIDS pandemic with our presence and our finances,” says Tamara Buchan, pastor of adult ministries.

Money from the book sales will help pay for 7,500 AIDS Caregive Kits, which cost between $20 and $25 each. The church has planned a special event for November, when community members will assemble the kits containing latex gloves, antibacterial soap, and other items. The kits will be shipped to an African nation and distributed to family members and local volunteers.

Bob Bowen, the Seattle area director of World Vision, expressed his appreciation. “To experience first-hand the smiles and joy on the faces of the authors and community members, it is so evident to me that God’s hand has been involved with this project. It is such a great blessing to me that net proceeds from the sale of this book will go towards helping children and families in need all around the world who will be blessed by acts of love, and encouraged in their hope for a better tomorrow.”

Miracles in Our Midst is available for a minimum suggested donation of $12 at www.plcc.org or by calling the church at 425-392-863. For more information, email the Pine Lake office or call the church.
