LITTLETON, CO (February 28, 2007) – Advancing Churches in Mission Commitment (ACMC), which has worked with many Evangelical Covenant churches to do world mission, has ceased all operations.

ACMC merged last year with the Caleb Project to form Initiative360, a collaborative mission resource and mobilization organization. According to the initiative website, the project no longer was financially sustainable and closed February 15.

Although Covenant churches have worked with ACMC for 25 years, the organization has not been part of the denomination.

Curt Peterson, executive minister of Covenant World Mission, says he was saddened by the news. “They have provided valuable training, consultation and conferences to advance the global mission of the church. Since many Covenant churches benefited from ACMC resources, this announcement impacts the Covenant as well as mission organizations of other denominations.”

Peterson adds that resources from the denomination will be of increased assistance to local congregations. “Covenant World Mission is organizing into a new department structure to help provide more resources, consultation, training and connection for the local Covenant church in its global mission vision,” he says. “World mission opportunities and initiatives continue to grow with vision and passion in the Covenant.”
