Seeking Applicants for Children’s Ministry Position

CHICAGO, IL (June 12, 2006) – Applications are being accepted for a position as children’s ministry assistant and receptionist to serve the Department of Christian Formation, its children’s ministry, and Covenant Resource Center.

The position, which reports to the director of children’s ministry, will be available in early July and will provide administrative and event support.

Responsibilities include editing and updating Children and Family Ministry workshop/seminar materials as well as Christian Formation print resources, maintaining all related files and supplies, and working with Covenant Communications and the Resource Center in production of various resources. This position will research and write synopses on new trends, current studies, curriculums, issues of justice and mercy, and other topics in the area of Children and Family ministry.

Responsibilities also include assisting with Children and Family Ministry events, producing material for Children and Family ministry coursework at North Park Theological Seminary, communicating daily with local churches and conferences, managing Children and Family Ministry web pages and routing email, reviewing and recommending ministry resources, and other office-related functions as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college (preferred), and one to two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The individual must have a deep commitment to Christ, the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and the purposes of the Department of Christian Formation. The person must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and demonstrate an ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner. The individual must have the ability to work with limited direction and effectively organize responsibilities and tasks. The position demands accuracy, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and good judgment. The individual must be able to travel several times per year.
