TURLOCK, CA (April 28, 2006) – Emanuel Medical Center is treating nearly 300 volunteers to a catered lunch Saturday as it caps off a week of honoring the people who donate their time.

“They are really what makes the difference at the hospital,” says Regina Amador, director of volunteer services. Illustrating her point, Amador notes the hospital benefited over the last years from the services of 544 volunteers, who worked 47,726 hours and raised $161,520 for the hospital.

” We really want to honor our volunteers,” says Amador. During the course of the week, the hospital has handed out cookies and flowers to the workers.

Amador views the volunteers as more than just workers. “I love my job; it’s wonderful,” says Amador. She likens working with a wide age range of people to having a lot of grandparents, parents, siblings and children.
