CHICAGO, IL (April 18, 2006) – Hardly a week goes by that we do not receive a few comments from readers on stories published as part of the Covenant online news report.

We will share from time to time some of those responses generated through the “comments” link attached to each published story. This kind of feedback is very helpful to our Covenant News Service staff as we seek to identify and publish stories of great interest to a broad spectrum of online readers of this report.

Following are comments relating to recently published stories, edited in some cases for length. To read a particular story of interest, click on the headline.

Easter: ‘The Truth, Bitter and Beautiful’

Marisol Medina of Cicero, IL, writes: I appreciate Stan’s very direct devotional. We try so hard at times not to offend people’s sensibilities to the point where we present an anemic Gospel. The reality is that the Gospel is very offensive to many people! However, because it is also 100 percent true, it has supernatural ability to bridge the gap between our dirty, ulgy sins, and God’s perfect holiness. Let’s stop fearing how people may or may not respond to the Gospel (communicated in love) and trust that the Holy Spirit will break through whatever barriers or filters we all set up.

CBC Suspends Operations at Colorado Campus

Dave Johnson of Moline, IL, writes: I have to admit to being a bit disturbed that the first that the general populace is hearing of the shortfalls at CBC (Covenant Bible College) is when operations in Colorado are to be suspended. That doesn’t offer us a whole lot of chance to help in whatever way we can.

Marge Palmerlee of Grand Rapids, MI, writes: How very sad to hear that CBC-Colorado is closing. I know it has had a huge impact in the lives of the students who have been blessed to attend that facility. I will be praying for the staff and students during this difficult time.

NPTS Professors Dismiss Gospel of Judas Text

Marge Palmerlee of Grand Rapids, MI, writes: Thank you for a very informative article. I appreciate hearing Scot McKnight and Klyne Snodgrass’ thoughts on the Gospel of Judas.

New Church Plant Viewed as ‘Mission Outpost’ < P> Angie Michelsen of Palm Desert, CA, writes: We’ve been waiting for some word on this. Our son, Doug, found it on the Covenant website and sent it to us. We thought the pastors would have sent names in of former parishioners who are living in the area. We’d like to know where and when they meet as we would like to visit. There’s not been anything in our newspaper down here.

3820East Bridgewater (MA) Church Celebrates 125 Years of Ministry

Ron Roper of Grand Rapids, MI, writes: I am trying to locate J. G. Princell’s English translation of P. P. Waldenstrom’s book, Smartornas Mans (in English it would have been “Man of Sorrows,” an exposition of Isaiah 53). Princell translated three other books by Waldenstrom – The Blood of Jesus, The Reconciliation, and God is Right (an exposition of Psalm 25). These were published by Martenson publishers in Chicago around 1888 and 1889. Due to the controversy that these books aroused, Princell was pressured to not publish his translation of Man of Sorrows. Nevertheless, the English manuscript must be somewhere. I have contacted the libraries and archives at North Park University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, but with no results so far. Would any of your readers happen to know anything about it?
