MUSKEGON, MI (March 25, 2006) – Past and present met Sunday evening (March 19) when Forest Park Covenant Church began celebrating its 125th anniversary in a service with the Mount Zion Church of Christ in God.

The service was held in Mount Zion’s building, which formerly was owned and occupied by the Forest Park congregation. Forest Park moved in 1983 to its current location.

Long-time members said it was important to have the service in their former building because many current attendees had never been in the former church. Youth choir members from each congregation sang together during the service.

Forest Park has been recognized throughout the community for its ministries that include operating two supervised group homes for mentally impaired adults.

The church’s anniversary celebration will continue through June 10, when a pig roast will be held. The congregation will host all living pastors, music directors, youth directors and interns at the event
