Holmgren on Congo: ‘Signs of Hope’ Appearing
Robert Huse of Strathmore, AB Canada, writes: So, Eileen Thorpe, you have a namesake in Congo. I was just wondering if she named her son Roger? What a sense of fulfillment Roger must have had to see the fruit of his ministry there.
Saturday Memorial Service for Anne Lindquist
Jim Fretheim of Burnsville, MN, writes: It was my privilege to serve on the Executive Board with Anne. She was a delight to work with! Very bright, a great sense of humor, and most of all a shining example of what it meant to follow Christ. Peace be to her memory!
Karen Hearl of Lincoln, CA, writes: I was sitting next to Anne when she was elected to the Executive Board and she was so happy to accept the challenge. Then I served with her for one year on the Executive Board and appreciated her warmth, wisdom, and commitment to Christ. She truly was a change agent and humble servant of the Lord. We as Covenanters owe her a debt of gratitude and praise to God for her leadership and servanthood. We were blessed by her life and witness.
Burgoyne Nominated as East Coast Superintendent
David Brickner of San Francisco, CA, writes: If I had a vote, which I do not, I would vote a hearty AMEN! The East Coast Conference will be truly fortunate to have Howard’s dedicated service and stewardship.
Phil Ladd of Peoria, IL, writes: I was very glad to discover this news. I have thought highly of Howard and his faith journey since he was on staff at Batavia. I believe that his experience there and other places will help him in this new endeavor. I believe that Howard has the right gifts for this ministry. Newport’s loss will be the East Coast’s gain. I believe God will bless Newport for their willingness to sacrifice their pastor to this new ministry. God bless you Howard. I know that he will.
Heading Back to Congo to Teach Others
Heidi Winter of Palmer, AK, writes: How encouraging! It would be good to hear more like this. God at work through our church, being that “pipe” he talks about.
