FRESNO, CA (February 6, 2006) – Amy Haworth, the 17-year-old daughter of Evangelical Covenant Church missionaries Jay and Ellen Haworth, is recuperating at a local hospital from injuries she suffered Sunday afternoon after she was thrown and run over by an off-road vehicle.

The Haworths serve in Japan, but Amy has been finishing her senior year of high school in Kingsburg. She has been living in the small community with Scott and Carol Williamson, who attend the Evangelical Covenant Church. Haworth was riding the vehicle with a friend when the accident occurred.

Haworth’s dislocated hip has been put back into place, said a secretary at the church. She also sustained a laceration to her liver. “If the bleeding does not stop they will need to do surgery, but at this time it looks like that might not be necessary,” according to a spokesperson for the Department of World Mission.
