MERCER ISLAND, WA (February 3, 2006) – Barring unforeseen complications, Sunday’s Super Bowl pre-game show on ABC Television will share a four-minute segment focusing on the medical mission trip of Kathy Holmgren, wife of Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren – including a one-minute live chat with Kathy, who at that point will be deep in the remote jungle of northwestern Congo.

The Holmgrens have captured the attention of news media throughout North America and around the world as Kathy left Thursday for the Democratic Republic of Congo, while her husband prepares to lead his Seahawks to the Super Bowl on Sunday. One of the Holmgren daughters, Calla, an obstetrician, also is part of the medical team.

News of the planned segment was confirmed this morning with Jim Sundholm, director of Covenant World Relief, and Curt Peterson, executive minister of Covenant World Mission. Sundholm also directs the Paul Carlson Partnership, which is responsible for planning of the trip to Congo.

The segment is scheduled to air at 4:50 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (check local listings for channels and times in different time zones).
