Saturday Memorial Service for Ruth V. (Jacobson) Strandine

WILLMAR, MN (January 26, 2006) – A memorial service for Ruth Victoria (Jacobson) Strandine, 94, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church. Strandine died January 12.

Ruth Victoria (Jacobson) Strandine A lifelong member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, she held denominational offices in Covenant Women Ministries, served two terms on the Covenant Board of Benevolence, was president of the Northwest Conference Covenant Women, and served as moderator for the Covenant Women Ministries Triennial in 1988.

Strandine is the daughter of Covenant pastor Thure and Mabel Jacobson and was born in Ishpeming, Michigan, on Aug. 15, 1911. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois; Omaha, Nebraska; and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Strandine attended Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.

She was married to Dr. Eldon Strandine in 1935. The couple lived in Chicago for 41 years and moved to Willmar in 1976. She and Eldon were crowned the Kandiyohi County Senior Queen and King in 1984.

She was preceded in death by Eldon and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Marilynn (and James) Tiede of Spicer, Minnesota, and Lenore (and Ramsey) Schaffnit of Glenn Ellyn, Illinois; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
